Musical chairs

The Colorado Symphony Orchestra is getting a new president and CEO beginning March 9. The CSO said today that James W. Palermo, who served 14 seasons as the artistic and general director of the Grant Park Music Festival in Chicago, has accepted the appointment. Palermo comes on board as CSO looks for a new music director to replace Jeffrey Kahane, who said in July he would leave after the 2009-'10 season following a bout with hypertension. Also in July, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra announced it was naming then- CSO Pres/CEO Doug Adams as its new president. Kevin Duncan has been serving as interim pres/CEO for the CSO.

Speaking of management changes, Chipotle Mexican Grill founder and CEO Steve Ells is going to be sharing his CEO role with Monty Moran, promoted from COO and President. The fast-casual chain, known for hefty burritos, is getting its first chief marketing officer, Mark Crumpacker, who's from the consulting firm that has been doing branding/creative work for them since the beginning. Bill Niman (Niman Ranch founder) was named Sustainable Agriculture Adviser, which seems like a move aimed at giving some cred and more attention to Chipotle's efforts to use more local foods, free-range meat, etc. Oh, and Chipotle wants to expand into Europe this year. London!
