"Brokeback Mountain" opened over the weekend, when it was named the the Los Angeles Film Critics Association's choice for best movie of the year, and took in $544,549 in a mere five theaters, The Associated Press reports. It was based on Annie Proulx's short story, posted on The New Yorker site.
